Meeting between representatives of the Centre for regional development of the Skopje region and Ministry of Local self-government was held today, 31.01.2012, at the Skopje Fair premises. The meeting was attended by President of the Skopje region and a Mayor of Gjorce Petrov municipality, Mr. Sokol Mitrevski, Director of the Center for development of Skopje region Ms. Aneta Lozanoska and State Secretary in the Ministry of local self-government Mr. Saso Stefanoski.
Mr. Mitrevski, before the meeting with the State Secretary Mr. Stefanoski, emphasized that although this region has many rural municipalities the funds they receive from the government are symbolic.
At the meeting Skopje region addressed several requirements to the Ministry of local self-government among which were adequate allocation of funds from the state budget, solution for financial structure, to increase the number of employees, and to be provided with its own administrative premises.
Mr. Stefanoski informed that Skopje region each year apply to the Ministry with projects for modernization of road infrastructure, reconstruction, modernization and expansion of water supply systems, sewerage and purification of waste rainwater and promoting and protecting the environment. As Mr. Stefanoski said, Skopje region last year achieved to receive funding for several projects important to the citizens of the City of Skopje. Among the important he points the finalized study for mapping and promotion of natural and cultural-historical heritage, which according to him, for the first time will register and make a database of all historical and cultural sites and buildings in Skopje. Also, a brochure will be developed so the citizens and tourists will be provided with data of the City of Skopje wealth and heritage.
