RDC Southeast

The fifth working meeting of the Council for development of the South-East region was conducted on 17.02.2010, in Home of ARM – Strumica, organized by the Centre for development of the South-East planning region. The participants of this meeting included: The minister for environment and physical planning, Dr.Nedzati Jakupi and his colleagues, representatives from the cabinet of the deputy president of the republic of Macedonia government Mr.Vladimir Peshevski, the ministry of Local Government, the Regional Center for environment(REC)–office in Macedonia, as a members and substitute members of the commission for assignment of concession for financing, projecting, construction and management of waste disposal in the South-East planning region.

In his introduction, the minister of environment and physical planning expressed his pleasure with the progress in implementing and preparing activities for assignment of concession (Public Private Partnership) for integrated management for regional waste disposal in this region.
During this meeting, the Council for development of the South-East region, the members and the substitute members of the commission for assignment of concession, and other participants established the structure of the commission. Going forward, the Government of the Republic of Macedonia will constitute the commission for assignment of concession. Additionally, the Council checked and analyzed the proposed text for the necessary documentation for publishing the Public call for competitive dialogue for financing, projecting, construction and management for regional waste disposal in the South-east planning region from the First phase of Public call.
REC organized experts from the Latvia region to present their experiences in organization and implementation of the EU standards regarding the waste disposal. The meeting concluded with a decision in the next short period should be announced an international Public call for competitive dialogue for financing, projecting, construction and management with regional waste disposal in the South-East planning region – first phase.
An agreement was made that REC should ensure experts from this area to present experience and knowledge about making an optimal decision for selecting a concessionary which will give a good services to the citizens from the region and members of the Council, and their substitutions of the commission for assessment of concession.
