On the 23rd of July 2018 in the municipality of Gevgelija, the 6th regular Мееting of the Council for development of the South-East planning region was held, where the main topic on the agenda was the adoption of the Proposal Decision for selection of a priority project under the UNDP Grant Scheme for the project – “Improving Municipal Governance”.
At this meeting, Ms. Luisa Vinton - UNDP Resident Representative, Ms. Narine Sahakjan deputy UNDP Resident Representative, representatives from UNDP, Manager of the Centre for development of the South-East planning region and Mayors of the municipalities from the South-East planning region were present.
Within this meeting, the Manager of the Centre presented the project proposals that were jointly proposed at the working meeting that was held on 04.07.2018 the representatives of all Municipalities. As the most suitable project for funding under the UNDP grant scheme, the Regional Council voted for the draft project "Construction of two shelters for homeless animals - Phase II".
For the realization of this project, UNDP will allocate 34,000 euros to CDSEPR. This project proposal envisages the procurement of equipment for two shelters for homeless animals that will be built in the next period within the project "Construction of two shelters for homeless animals" funded by the Bureau for balanced regional development.
In addition to the Decision on selection of a priority project, within the session adopted was the Decision for non-monetary contribution of the Centre for development of SEPR for implementation of the project for local and regional competitiveness for investments in infrastructure related to tourism and connecting with the destinations, sub-project "Dojran – tourism pearl in South-East Macedonia".
Also, during the meeting was discussed about the selection of project proposals according to measure 321 and 323 in accordance with the Public Call no. 02/2018 in the frame of the Program for financial support of the rural development for 2018.
The meeting was concluded with a discussion on the inclusion of all municipalities in relation to the preparation of the project application by which the Centre for development of SEPR will apply for funding under the UNDP Grant Scheme and submission of project proposals by all municipalities in order to CDSEPR timely apply for the measure 321 and 323 of the Program for financial support of the rural development for 2018.
Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) is part of the package for external relations. IPA and other elements of the package are a great opportunity for streamlining and simplifying the procedures of the European Commission and improving the coherence and coordination of the activities of the Commission.
