Within the framework of the project "Sustainable and Inclusive Balanced Regional Development" financed by the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation and the Ministry of Local Self-Government, the Centre for development of the South-East planning region will receive funds for implementation of a regional project that will be proposed for implementation through a participatory forum approach by the citizens of the South-East planning region.
For this purpose, on 08.02.2019 in hotel Sirius, Strumica, the First regional forum session within the program "Regional forums in the community" was held. Within this program four forum sessions are planned to be organized through which priority projects will be selected and will be proposed for financing to the donor Swiss Agency for development and cooperation (SDC).
After the completion of the forum process, the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation (SDC) will approve one project that the Centre will implement within 2019.
The overall goal of the program is to enable participatory community development and good local governance by applying a structured citizen participation tool - forum approach. The forum approach is a development platform: 1) the citizens to participate actively in decision-making in their municipalities; and 2) the administration to develop participatory, accountable and credible local governance.
Through a participatory approach, the citizens of the South-East planning region, representatives from municipal administrations, business sector, NGOs and other stakeholders discussed the priority problems that affect the region and proposed priority solutions.
The participants of the First forum session identified issues and solutions in the area of tourism, infrastructure, business sector and social inclusion, which were also given as priorities for funding of projects by the donor.
The concepts will be presented during the Second regional forum session will be organized on 15.02.2019.
