On October 14th, 2019 in Radovish and Strumica the third cycle of trainings for farmers - grant candidates for the introduction of modern agri-environmental measures under the Restoration of Strumica river basin Project was launched. The project is being implemented by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) in partnership with the Centre for Development of the South-East Planning Region, Municipalities from the Basin and other relevant institutions, and is funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
About 80 agricultural producers, gardeners and orchards will be selected to participate in the trainings, which are specialized for agricultural production, out of which 50 grantees will be selected, 20 orchards and 30 gardeners.
The grantees will be selected through a knowledge test and those with the most points will be awarded grants in the equipment and materials needed to implement the foreseen agri-environmental measures in the amount of 300.000 MKD.
The trainings will be organized in the period October - November 2019, while the testing will be organized during the month of December 2019.
Implementation of activities to introduce modern, agri-environmental measures aims at increasing the competitiveness of agricultural production in the region and reducing its environmental impact.
Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA) is part of the package for external relations. IPA and other elements of the package are a great opportunity for streamlining and simplifying the procedures of the European Commission and improving the coherence and coordination of the activities of the Commission.
